Science
Manganese gives morganite its pink. Crystals are often tabular rather than prismatic, and large clean stones are cut from Brazilian and Malagasy rough. Its soft colour made it the fashionable engagement stone of the 2010s.

Found in Madagascar in 1910, it was named by George Kunz of Tiffany after his client J. P. Morgan, a major donor of gems to the American Museum of Natural History.
It has no ancient lore; its associations are inherited from rose quartz and pink tourmaline.
